Finding a charity for cars can be an easy process or it can be rather difficult.

It all depends on what your expectations are. If you simply want to get rid of that old clunker in the back yard then it is as easy as calling a car donations service and arrange for a pick up. This is by far the easiest way to find a charity for cars since the donation service already works with a group of charities.

If you have a car that is in good running order then finding a charity for cars can be slightly more difficult. This is usually because at this point people are looking to get a tax deduction along with their donation. If this is the case then it is vital that the charity is a registered non-profit organization that is eligible to receive tax deductible donations.

Either way you still need to find a charity that is going to be happy accepting your donations. You can find a list of charities that will be able to provide you with a receipt you can use when filing your taxes.  The best place (and only place to look in my opinion) is to search through the IRS database for charities that fall under Publication 78, Cumulative List of Organizations described in Section 170(c) of the Internal Revenue Code.
